Equipment Rental :
Diving Sports includes all the basic gear included in our freedive package.

Transport can be provided from our shop to the dive site. We have our shop van (limited to a 6 passenger maximum capacity). Available passenger places in the shop van will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Course Description

The PADI Basic Freediver course is a subset of the PADI Freediver course. It's a great first step for developing solid freediving skills. You learn basic freediving principles and focus on practicing breathhold techniques in a pool or confined water site.

To enroll in a PADI Basic Freediver course you must be 16 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with snorkeling, skin diving or freediving is required.

Your PADI Basic Freediver course will cover fundamental topics such as:

  • Essential safety procedures for breath-holding at the Freediver level
  • Proper breathing techniques for freediving and snorkeling
  • Confined water skill development
  • Equalization for depth diving
  • Equipment for freediving and snorkeling
  • The fundamental physics and physiology of freediving; understand what happens to your body at depth

  • Skills

    Some of the skills a student will be able to perform at the end of the PADI Basic Freediver course are:
  • Safety skills as a buddy
  • Perform a 1:30 minute static breathhold in the pool with opportunity to increase to maximum capacity
  • Dive with proper technique : constant weight and free immersion with proper recovery breathing
  • Dynamic apnea of 25 metres
  • To earn PADI Basic Freediver certification, students must be able to:
  • Demonstrate adequate safe buddy skills, showing how to perform a rescue to PADI standards
  • Perform a minimum 1:30 min static breath hold in the pool with the opportunity to increase to maximum capacity to 4:30 min
  • Dive using proper technique in constant weight and free immersion using the PADI method of entrance and exit with proper recovery breathing
  • Dynamic apnea of 25 metres with proper technique

  • Classroom

  • Complete the manual or eLearning Program
  • Pass final with 75 percent or more
  • Equalizing workshops
  • CO2 and O2 workshops

  • Watermanship and stamina

  • Prepare freediving equipment without instructor assistance
  • Proper entry procedure (select best local option)
  • 200 m/655 ft continuous swim without fins, snorkel, wetsuit, or flotation
  • Minimum of ten-minute tread/float
  • Snorkel blast clearing
  • Recovery breathing and coaching
  • Minimum of four consecutive static breath-holds with no hypoxic symptoms achieving at least 1:30 min
  • Recovery breathing and coaching for buddy

  • Prerequisites

  • Swimming or snorkeling experience
  • Good health and fitness
  • 16 years of age with parent/guardian permission
  • PADI-Medical-Form
